SIX for Brands

Be the answer in AI search

“Half of consumers use AI-powered search today, and it stands to impact $750 billion in revenue by 2028... Winning brands will rethink their approach to digital content.” McKinsey & Company, New front door to the internet

3 key approaches to surface in AI search:

Human expertise

AI engines favour and cite real expertise and first-hand experience from people.

82%of articles cited in AI answers by ChatGPT and Perplexity are human-written. In Google Search it's 86%.

Local context

People ask local questions; Local recommendations are a large driver of AI visibility.

ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity all use your approximate location for local questions, and Google counts “visiting a place” as first-hand experience. A local author has both.

Rich answers

Share genuinely helpful answers with visuals, stats, links, and rich content gets cited.

Despite the now massive amounts of AI-generated content, it does not perform well. Google advises “high-quality images” and “structured data [that] matches the visible text.”

CDescription: the summary answer

I'm Amelia Miller, store lead at Six Tides Vancouver. From October through March, the question I get most from people who visit our store is a version of “what jacket do I actually need here?” Vancouver fall isn't very cold, but it's wet, often for days at a time, and November is typically one of the rainiest months of the year. Go 30 minutes up the Sea-to-Sky or onto the North Shore mountains and it's a different climate: colder, windier, snow by late fall. So the right jacket here is less about maximum warmth and more about staying dry, managing sweat, and layering. I recommend you think in layers: a waterproof shell for everyday rain, an insulated jacket to wear under it from November, a long coat for city commutes and a base layer for colder mountain days. Get a versatile set that lasts for the long-term.

Author: I'm Amelia Miller, store lead at Six Tides Vancouver. I've spent six years in outdoor retail fitting people for West Coast weather, whether they're commuting downtown, riding the Seaside route or heading up the North Shore. Most weekends you'll find me on the North Shore trails, testing whatever we've just got in. Visit us on West 4th Avenue in Kitsilano.

EFAQ: the follow-up questions

FAQ

A: A fully waterproof, breathable shell with taped seams is the most useful single jacket for Vancouver fall, because the challenge here is sustained rain rather than extreme cold. Add a light insulated layer, like the Six Tides Isotherm, underneath from November onward.

ATitle: the question
  • •Answer a key question your customers are asking that you want to surface in. Think of high-intent questions, and specific longer questions vs broad short ones.
  • •Do a brainstorm or research session - search where you don't show up, and where you'd like to.
  • •Local context and time-of-year helps being cited. AI engines weigh recency and relevance.

Make the title the question

Use the exact question a shopper types or asks, in their words. It becomes the Six's H1.

BThe Author: Employee-led expertise
  • •Pick someone to answer who is a genuine expert with a point of view. Local relevance helps.
  • •Say why you're the expert to answer this specific question: years of experience, what you're passionate about, how you help people.
  • •If Customer Contacts is enabled in SIX, people can contact the employee to ask for more information. Add your LinkedIn profile so engines can vet authenticity.

Say what only you can

Lead with first-hand experience and a point of view no one else can copy.

CDescription: Summary answer
  • •Write the summary answer the way you'd want the AI engine to write it.
  • •Give your unique expert point of view: what you'd tell someone
  • •Comparative answers work well - compare fairly with other brands, be a helpful answer.

Answer first, then detail

Open with a direct 30–80 word answer to the title. Picks and FAQs add the detail after.

DPicks: Rich answers that provide colour and depth
  • •Picks add the colour and detail behind the answer.
  • •Re-use what you already have in SIX, like products and experience content. Re-use social content.
  • •Include other related content if it helps provide a genuinely useful and comparative answer.

Facts, not adjectives

Swap “best” and “premium” for prices, materials, timings and places.

EFAQ: Related questions
  • •Add other questions someone might type in that your Six also answers.
  • •Keep answers short. Short answers are easy for engines to quote and cite.
  • •Format your FAQ with the title “FAQ” and a Q: and A: before each. Add as many Q&As as needed.

Every answer stands alone

Each FAQ answer makes sense quoted alone.

FDate: recency and relevance
  • •Create date is logged and surfaced to AI engines. Time-of-year Sixes pair well with the date for relevance. Keep your Sixes current with updates.
